Invisible braces have become an extremely popular way of straightening the teeth, and most people are familiar with the brand Invisalign. This system is often used by models and celebrities alike, offering a discrete alternative to traditional metal braces.
Invisalign uses a set of almost invisible, removable, medical grade plastic aligners that are created to fit your teeth. Every two to three weeks, your aligners are changed for a new set, gradually moving your teeth into a straighter position. Many patients like the fact that the aligners can be removed for eating, drinking and tooth brushing.
Although many people have heard of Invisalign, not many people know that there is actually a whole range of Invisalign braces to choose from, depending on requirements. Here, we take a closer look at what they are, ready to help you decide what might suit you best.
- Invisalign Full
This is the original Invisalign brace that can be used to correct a huge range of orthodontic problems. As with all Invisalign options, you’ll be able to view your own virtual treatment plan which will allow you to see where your smile will end up. You can expect treatment to last between 12 to 18 months, depending on your starting point.
- Invisalign Teen
Invisalign Teen works in the same way as the original Invisalign but has some additional features. These include blue wear-indicators to help you and your dental practitioner gauge wear time, as well as a special design that enables the eruption of new adult teeth. You’ll also receive extra sets of replacement aligners, just in case any get lost or damaged.
- Invisalign i7
Invisalign i7 is for patients with minor orthodontic problems who are looking for a quick solution to wonky teeth. This type of Invisalign brace can straighten teeth in just three months and uses no more than seven clear aligners.
- Invisalign Lite
Invisalign Lite aims to treat simple to moderate orthodontic cases within seven months and bridges the gap between Invisalign i7 and Invisalign Full. This system can also be used as a precursor to cosmetic dentistry such as veneers, crowns and bridges.
Overall, each Invisalign system offers highly sophisticated, effective tooth straightening, but determining which brace is best for you depends on your individual case.
